He was born
beneath a neem tree in Mayapur and was named Nimai. |

The entire
Nabadwip wonders at his naughtiness, surprised that such |

a naughty boy
Nimai (Purnima) should be born in a family of Pundits. |
|
| |
In time Nimai
changes and as an adult (Binoy Kumar Goswami) he |
|
| |
becomes the
leading Pundit of Nabadwip. Mother Sachimata (Rani- |
|
| |
sundari) gets
him married to Bishnupriya (KANAN). Returning from |
|
| |
Gaya Nimai
asks Bishnupriya what if he has to leave her for the |
|
| |
welfare of
mankind and with a smile on her face she says that if he |
|
| |
has to leave
her, he should. Nimai takes Sanyas
and leaves the |
|
| |
place.
Sachimata weeps bitterly for her son, so does the whole of |
|
| |
Nabadwip.
Bishnupriya spends her time counting days and singing |
|
| |
songs of
praise for Nimai. Five years pass …….. |
|
| |
Nimai, now
enlightened Chaitanya Dev, returns to his motherland. |
|
| |
He meets his
mother, meets the Pundits of Nabadwip, performs |
|
| |
his duties as
a Sanyasi. Bishnupriya
comes to him and asks what |
|
| |
he has to
offer to her…The Sanyasi
tells her to take Krishna’s name |
|
| |
but
Bishnupriya knows of no other Krishna than Chaitanya, for her both |
|
| |
are the
same-she weeps and asks for mercy, asks him not to leave……. |
