SHESH UTTAR was KANAN’s first work with M.P. The popularity of her

songs scaled new heights and the phenomenal success of TOOPHAN

MAIL was such that even in documentaries on Indian railways this song

was used as signature tune.

When the film was complete and due for release, Kamal Dasgupta told

director Barua that in a particular sequence a song would fit well. Barua

immediately told the music director to go ahead and get a song ready so

it could be picturised and fresh editing could be done. The added song

was AMI BONOPHOOL GO written by Pronob Roy. The release was

postponed. Perhaps this explains the absence of the lyricist’s

name from title card. The record of the song by Megaphone-

JNG 10002  however gives due credit to Pronob Roy.
