KANAN’S success with M.P. repeated  and the film ran to packed houses.
More than two decades after it’s first release, at a re run, the whole house
hummed to the tune of IF YOU DON’T LIKE ME THEN DO NOT LOSE
YOUR HEART……

The film was started with JYOTIPRAKASH BHATTACHARYA
as hero. The untimely demise of actress wife Sheela Haldar nearly drove the young
hero out of mind and he committed suicide within a few days keeping nearly twenty
five per cent of the film unfinished. The public, greatly enthusiastic about a new
screen pair-the young and dashing Bhattacharya with evergreen KANAN- was
greatly disappointed at the turn of events. Jahar Ganguly was chosen the new hero.
The unit’s fear that a bad and tragic start would also mean a similar finish was proved
wrong when the film registered tremendous success.
