and
March of Bashudeb with child Krishna through the waters of the Yamuna |
KANAN
had two songs in the film but these were not published as gramophone
records. |
This was
KANANs
last film with Madan Theatres. She entered into a long term
contract |
with Radha Film
Company and remained associated with them till 1936. It was during |
this period that
she could be recognized as one ahead of her contemporaries. |
P.C.Barua could
not procure her services for the role of Parbati in his Debdas (1935) |
because of her
existing contract with Radha. The role was offered to Umashashi next |
but she was
dropped from the film for failing to report for the first days shooting.
Jamuna |
got the coveted
role finally and starred in both the versions of the film.
KANAN
finally |
joined the New
Theatres after paying a compensation of Rupees Four Thousand to Radha |
Films. Before
joining the N.T.
KANAN
was faced with some lucrative offers from
Lahore, |
but after some
initial hesitation she declined them. |
